Primary Function & Major Responsibilities Evaluate and treat emergency department patients under direct supervision of emergency physicians. Participates in the evaluation and treatment of emergency department patients under the supervision of the staff emergency physician. Completes dictation/documentation of patient encounters. Provides patient education, discharge instructions and follow-up plan. Prescribes medication in accordance with state requirements. Initiates evaluation and treatment procedures essential to appropriate response to emergency situations. Executes specific orders at the direction of the supervising emergency staff physician. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education:
We will consider both Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants. Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner graduate education program. Master’s degree in nursing. Certification as a CNP (Adult, Family Acute Care) by the American Nurse Credentialing Center, American Nurse Association, or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Active or eligible for Minnesota R.N. license. Current Basic Life Support certification. or Graduation from an accredited PA education program and/or certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Current Basic Life Support certification. Preferred

Experience:
1-3 years of Independent Emergency Department practice experience Minimum of 5 years experience in critical care (ie, CCU, ICU, SICU) with proven ability to do procedures or Residency Training Experience with lumbar puncture, central lines, invasive monitoring, and joint reduction. Working knowledge of all common aspects of Emergency Medicine, including pediatrics, OB, Geriatrics, Psych and EMS Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent communication skills; Effective liaison with other health care professionals; Exceptional customer service orientation; Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
