Primary Function & Major Responsibilities Performs medically prescribed Occupational Therapy procedures in home health care setting. The Occupational Therapist directs, supervises, evaluates and establishes goals based on the client's current level of functioning and potential for improvement. Provide advisory service to other professional workers who share the responsibility for the client's care. Maintains client records accurately. Instructs family and/or clients in appropriate home care treatment. Interacts appropriately with management and professional peers. Provides advisory and consultation services to staff to ensure quality care. Promotes personal safety and a safe environment for clients and co-workers. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Performs other duties/responsibilities as directed.

Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Occupational Therapy. Current licensure with the Minnesota Department of Health. National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is optional.

Experience:
Two years Occupational Therapy experience in health care preferred Special Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of O.T. principles, practices, and skills required under home health care statutes; Effective written and oral communication skills; Strong time management skills; Strong interpersonal skills; Reliable transportation to and from patient homes; Ability to lift and transfer clients using appropriate equipment; Knowledge regarding Medicare/Medicaid and third-party payors; Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups (pediatric through geriatric). Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient?s status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient?s needs in relation to age and to provide the care needed as described in the department?s policies and procedures.
